Powder Coating Process

HOW POWDER COATING WORKS

The powder coating finishing process utilizes dry, free-flowing, thermoplastic or thermoset powder material to coat a surface. It is first applied, melted, and then hardened into an even coating. This finishing process can be used on various materials such as metal, plastic, glass, and even wood such as MDF.
There are two main methods,

  • Electrostatic Spray Deposition (ESD)
  • Fluidized Bed Application

Both processes can create an even, hard finish that is generally more durable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly than a comparable liquid coating.

Blast It

Sandblasting the surface to remove dirt, grime, rust, and corrosion along with any existing painted or powder-coated finishes.

Prep It

Applying a chemical solution to remove surface impurities, cleaning off any lingering debris and, preventing rust and corrosion.

Powder It

Through an electrolysis process, the powder coating is applied to the surface.

Cure It

Heat is evenly displaced through an oven to ensure the coating is properly cured.
